At the Museum Nikolaikirche, there are eight hundred years of history and culture to discover! Berlin’s oldest surviving church building has been a defining feature of the Nikolai Quarter and the centre of Berlin since the Middle Ages: once a place of worship, now a museum of church, architectural and urban history. Of particular interest to families is the model of the medieval twin cities of Berlin and Cölln. Here, children and adults can explore together which buildings from that era still stand and what the area looks like today.

On the Day of Action, a guided German language tour of the permanent exhibition [Berlin’s Middle](https://www.stadtmuseum.de/en/exhibition/berlins-middle) offers in-depth insights into the history of the area. There are also two special exhibitions: ‘Fighting over Stones?!’ uses six video stations to shed light on the colonial past of Berlin’s St Nicholas’ Church. ‘Who ruled the city?’ explores the church, power and coexistence before 1800, offering new perspectives on seven objects on display in the permanent exhibition.

An audio guide for families takes visitors on a tour of the museum with exciting stories in German. Designed especially for children, there is a museum treasure hunt illustrated by the Berlin-based comic artist Mawil, available in German, English, Turkish, Polish and Arabic.

## The ‘Sunday at the Nikolai Quarter’

On the first Sunday of every month, we offer a special, wide-ranging programme for everyone at our three museums in the Nikolaiviertel. Families in particular are warmly invited – admission is free for everyone under 18 or for those eligible for concessions. Good reasons to look forward to great activities at the Museum Ephraim-Palais, the Museum Nikolaikirche and the Museum Knoblauchhaus!

Our solidarity-based pricing model offers free admission for adults with proof of concessions, including students, apprentices, those undertaking FSJ, FÖJ and BFD placements, people with severe disabilities, refugees, recipients of Bürgergeld or ALG I, and many others. Everyone else pays only the museum admission fee and can benefit from our discounted combined ticket for all three museums. The extensive programme is included in the price!
