> The multimedia installation moves through the past, present and future to highlight and honor the presence and cultural heritage of queer migrants and BIPoC in the city.

In a series of videos, the artists, together with numerous protagonists, focus on spaces of exchange, self‑organisation and visibility for queer BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) in Berlin.

They connect queer-migrant history of the 1920s and queer Jewish life before the Second World War with political activism by the association “ADEFRA – Black Women in Germany” in the 1980s or the “OYA Collective” today, extending to visions of the youth ballroom scene for a queer Berlin of the future. The various places, people and temporal layers enter into dialogue with one another, forming a dynamic network of individual and collective narratives.

The installation understands itself as part of a self‑determined, open‑ended history shaped by continuities, overlaps and memories. In the museum context, the work presents this legacy as a multivocal journey through time.

### The Open Spaces

The Open Spaces are three areas of the exhibition BERLIN GLOBAL developed by initiatives, organizations and independent groups. The aim is to increase visibility of perspectives on Berlin’s past and present that have not received sufficient representation in museums and exhibitions – including BERLIN GLOBAL. The projects are selected by an independent jury and developed and implemented over a period of 12 months in cooperation with the Stadtmuseum Berlin. Afterwards, the exhibition is on display at BERLIN GLOBAL for about 18 months.
