# The Waisenbrücke bridge

As part of the Allianz Neue Waisenbrücke, the Stadtmuseum Berlin is advocating for the construction of a new pedestrian and cycling bridge where the historic Waisenbrücke once stood. This bridge would make an important contribution to mobility transition and sustainable transport in Berlin.

### Die alte Waisenbrücke

Ab Januar 1960 ließ die Ost-Berliner Stadtverwaltung die Waisenbrücke abreißen. Mit dem geschichtsreichen Bauwerk verschwand ein Jahrhunderte alter Flussübergang über die Spree.
