In the \u201cNeue Berliner Illustrierte\u201d, his reports contained striking images from across the globe.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\" has-highlight-color\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"zeplin-category\">by<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stadtmuseum.de\/autor\/florenz-heldermann\" class=\"has-highlight-color text-decoration-none zeplin-category\">Florenz Heldermann<\/a>, \n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stadtmuseum.de\/en\/autor\/florenz-heldermann-2\" class=\"has-highlight-color text-decoration-none zeplin-category\">Florenz Heldermann<\/a>, \n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stadtmuseum.de\/en\/autor\/florenz-heldermann-en\" class=\"has-highlight-color text-decoration-none zeplin-category\">Florenz Heldermann<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"block block-copy settings-intend\">\n\t<div class=\"container-fluid\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-7\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"copy\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>In East Berlin, very soon after the end of the Second World War, the \u201cNeue Berliner Illustrierte\u201d, or NBI for short, was released as a replacement for the \u201cBerliner Illustrierte Zeitung\u201d which ceased publication in April 1945. The magazine enjoyed huge popularity up to German reunification. It came out weekly until 1991 and, in the 1970\u2019s and 1980\u2019s, had a circulation of around 800,000 copies per edition. Despite this wide circulation, the NBI was always quickly sold out.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"block block-standard-image-copy  align-left\" data-parallax='{\"child\":\".motion-image\",\"mask\":\".row\",\"full\":{\"y\": [5,-5]}}' id=\"sticky_69f57e020397f\">\n\t<div class=\"container-fluid\" data-parallax='{\"child\":\".row\",\"mask\":\".motion-image\",\"in\":{\"scale\": [1.1,1.1],\"opacity\": [0,0]},\"center\":{\"scale\": [1.1,1],\"opacity\": [0,1],\"ease\":\"sine.out\"},\"out\":{\"opacity\": [1,0]}}'>\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-4 \">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"padding-bottom-minimal padding-top-minimal copy\" >\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"margin-bottom-third  has-highlight-color\">\u201cA glimpse of the world\u201d<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe NBI was characterised by wide-ranging topics and its easy reading quality, and consequently appealed to a broad readership. Articles focused on politics, culture and entertainment. The NBI also published novels in weekly instalments, there were puzzles and also a children\u2019s page. The entire magazine and the foreign reports in particular were generously illustrated. After a year-long stint as a photographic reporter for \u201cDas Volk\u201d in Erfurt, he moved to East Berlin, where he initially spent four years working for \u201cJunge Welt\u201d. Following this, in 1968 Sefzik began a correspondence photography course at the Leipzig Academy of Fine Arts from where he graduated in 1973. In parallel to his studies, in 1968 he started his career at the \u201cNeue Berliner Illustriertie\u201d where he was employed until the magazine closed.<br><br>After German reunification, the NBI was no longer able to defend its position in the market and even the retitled \u201cextra-Magazin\u201d in early 1991 did not alter the fact that production had to be stopped in the same year.\u00a0 From 1992, Sefzik worked as scientific employee of Kunst- und Kultur GmbH Berlin.
