Discover eight hundred years of history and culture! Berlin’s oldest preserved church building has characterised the Nikolai Quarter and the centre of Berlin since the Middle Ages: once a place of religion, now a museum of church, building and city history. The model of the medieval twin city of Berlin and Cölln is particularly interesting for families. Here, children and adults can find out together which buildings from back then still exist and what they look like today.
An audio guide for families leads you through the museum with exciting stories in German. Especially for children, there is a museum rally illustrated by Berlin cartoonist Mawil in German, English, Turkish, Polish and Arabic. A guided tour of the permanent exhibition ‘Berlin’s Middle’ also awaits you on the day of action. In addition, the special exhibition ‘Today yet, tomorrow surely. Cinematic Perspectives on Berlin around 1990’ examines the profound change before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall from documentary and artistic perspectives.
The ‘Sunday at the Nikolai Quarter’
With this day of action, the Stadtmuseum Berlin is continuing the popular Museum Sunday, which unfortunately cannot be continued in 2025 due to cost-cutting measures by the Berlin Senate. Instead, on the first Sunday of the month, we are offering a special, wide-ranging program for everyone in our three museums in the Nikolai Quarter. Families in particular are cordially invited – admission is free for children and adolescents under the age of 18! So you can still look forward to great offers at the Museum Ephraim-Palais, the Museum Nikolaikirche and the Museum Knoblauchhaus!
Even if admission can no longer be free for everyone, it will at least remain so for many: Our solidarity pricing model offers free admission for adult visitors with proof of discount, including students, trainees, FSJ, FÖJ and BFD volunteers, people with disabilities, refugees, recipients of citizen’s allowance or ALG I and many more. All others only pay the museum entrance fee and can benefit from our reduced-price combined ticket for all three museums. The extensive action day program is included in the price!ncluded in the price!
