The archive of the Stiftung Stadtmuseum BerlinThe House Archive of the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin represents the history of the SSB, its predecessor institutions as well as all former and present collections and dependencies with its file holdings, archival collections and bequests across all collections. It sees itself as a place of research and at the same time as the “historical memory” of the foundation.
One of the central tasks of the archive is to preserve the holdings, estates and collections according to archival principles, to make them accessible and to make them available for use by the scientific public and provenance research.
The holdings of the House Archives include:
I. Business files of the Märkisches Provinzial Museum and the Märkisches Museum until 1945
II. business files of the Märkisches Museum (East) and the Berlin Museum (West)
III. business files of the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin as of 1995
including newspaper clippings, printed matter, etc.
VII. Special stocks
