In der Poststraße 23 in Berlin-Mitte ist das im Original erhaltene Bürgerhaus aus der Biedermeier-Zeit zu finden. Seit 1989 wird es als Museum betrieben.

In addition to the six locations, the work of the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin is divided into the directorate, four management areas and specialist and project teams.The administrative bodies responsible for the Foundation are the Board of Directors (Paul Spies) and the Foundation Council.
The Foundation Council is chaired by Senator for Culture and Social Cohesen Joe Chialo. Specialist consulting committees support the museum’s work. The Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin is the sole shareholder of Stadtmuseum Berlin GmbH, which is the service company of the Stadtmuseum Berlin. The Stadtmuseum Berlin currently employs around 300 people.
