Paths of Remembrance (in German)
Street names and memorial steles in different parts of Berlin serve as reminders of the city’s colonial past. The walking tour starts at Wilhelmstraße (Mitte) and leads to the temporary memorial stele exhibition “Paths of Remembrance” in Wedding. Along the memorial steles, which highlight anti-colonial resistance fighters and movements, the city walk opens up new perspectives on German colonial history.
The tour invites participants to understand public space as a site of learning and remembrance and to critically engage with colonial continuities within the urban landscape. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for exchange and discussion.
Tickets
Available exclusively in advance through our ticket shop. In addition, a valid BVG ticket is required for participation.
Event Details
The tour takes place even in rainy weather conditions. The distance between Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße and the “Asian Pacific Streets” will be covered by U-Bahn. As part of the tour, a survey will be conducted in cooperation with the Institute of Social Sciences at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. Participation is voluntary and anonymous.
Accessibility
The walking tour takes place on flat, street-level paths. Elevators are available at the U-Bahn stations, but their operation cannot be guaranteed. Please check accessibility conditions independently.
