West Berlin

West Berlin - for over forty years it was the "island of freedom", a highly subsidised "shop window of the West", a biotope and a cosmopolitan city at the same time. With the end of German division, the sub-city lost its prestige, its special status and its symbolic charge. But in the meantime, City West has begun to shine again.
