Liam loves to be outdoors and on the move. That’s why the voluntary ecological year at the Museumsdorf Düppel was the perfect opportunity before he began his studies in biology or nature conservation. In the video, he gives an insight into his favourite field: animal care. The importance of farm animals for people in the Middle Ages and the sustainable use of nature today are important topics for the educational work in the Museumsdorf Düppel. For research purposes in the context of experimental archaeology, the Düppel grazing pig is bred here according to the medieval model. The Düppel sheep can also be found on the museum grounds. They belong to the old Skudde breed, which is threatened with extinction.
