Berlin Backyards

Accompanying the special exhibition ‘Berlin Backyards’ on the 3rd floor of the Ephraim-Palais Museum, the Stadtmuseum Berlin is once again calling on people to take part in its participatory project ‘Berlin jetzt!’ (Berlin now). All photography enthusiasts are invited to send in their personal perspectives on Berlin’s backyards.

Thank you for your pictures of Berlin’s backyards! We are thrilled with the numerous submissions to our photo call Berlin jetzt! that we have received since May. Your perspectives on Berlin’s backyards are as diverse, lively and surprising as the city itself. Due to the high demand, we are therefore extending the call until 18 September. So if you haven’t made it yet, you can still take part!

Show us the diverse faces of Berlin’s backyards! Because backyards are not just turning areas for the fire brigade, not just parking spaces for vehicles and rubbish bins. They are also places of work, of everyday life, of activity and relaxation, places of community where people meet, play together or come together to protest. Submitted photos will be published on the Stadtmuseum Berlin website. Selected submissions will also be shown in the special exhibition Berlin Backyards at the Museum Ephraim-Palais.

Please note:

By submitting your photos, you confirm that you own the image rights and have obtained the consent of all persons depicted for publication. Don’t worry about public buildings and sights – the freedom of panorama protects you here! Please do not mention the specific addresses of the backyards in order to protect the privacy of the people living and working there.
