WELTSTUDIO, 1. OG
6h
In this edition of WELTSTUDIO special, everything revolves around maps: Who decides what goes on them? What do your places, paths and worlds look like? Families, children and adults are invited to get involved, think differently and creatively chart their own maps.
The programme
WELTSTUDIO | 11 am – 5 pm
Create 3D Maps
With illustrator Ulrike Haselhoff, imaginative folding maps come to life – showing real favourite places or invented dream journeys through Berlin. Of course, the creative artworks can be taken home.
Weaving Cartographer
At the large wooden weaving frame, you’ll weave your thoughts, wishes and views of Berlin – thread by thread, a colourful city map made of wool emerges.
Body Cartographer
Grab a pen and design your very own world map on a body outline. Expressive, colourful, and ready to take home or display.
Rolling Cartographer
Draw your favourite place and place it inside a sphere, which you’ll crank into the sphere universe – and receive a place drawn by someone else in return. Map meets sphere, person meets perspective. Just join in!
Mapping Berlin Together
A giant city map invites you to contribute: Add your places, ideas and impressions. Guiding questions help you reflect. All contributions become part of a large, shared picture.
Picture Book Journey in the (Reading) Lounge
Start times: 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm
Actor Fabian von Herman reads exciting stories about travel and the world. Cosy cushions invite you to listen or browse. Fascinating atlases are also available for adults. For the youngest visitors, there’s a play and crawling area as well as changing facilities.
