The Stadtmuseum Berlin (Berlin City Museum) is one of Germany’s largest museums of cultural history. Its extraordinary collection includes around 4.5 million objects that tell the story of Berlin’s art, culture, and history – from prehistoric times to the present day. Across six museum sites, Berlin life is brought to life in all its diversity and fascination.

As a member of the Friends and Supporters of the Stadtmusuem Berlin, you’ll help promote and support the museum’s work – and gain a deeper understanding of Berlin along the way.What can you expect?
The association fosters an active civic culture in Berlin and invites you to join guided tours, day trips, and special events. We actively support the museum – whether by acquiring new objects for the collection or contributing in other meaningful ways.

- Free admission all year round to the museum’s permanent exhibitions, where Berlin’s rich and complex history comes to life: “BERLIN GLOBAL” at the Humboldt Forum, “BerlinZEIT” at the Museum Ephraim-Palais, “Everyday Life in Biedermeier Berlin” at the Museum Knoblauchhaus and “Berlin’s Middle” at the Museum Nikolaikirche (The Märkisches Museum is currently undergoing an exciting transformation)

The Stadtmuseum Berlin and its Locations
The Stiftung Statdtmuseum Berlin (Berlin City Museum Foundation) operates five museums in the heart of Berlin, each offering unique perspectives on the city’s rich and diverse history.
- The Märkisches Museum – designed by Ludwig Hoffmann and opened in 1908 as the Märkisches Provincial Museum, it has been part of the Berlin City Museum since 1997 (currently closed for renovation).
- The Museum Nikolaikirche – located in Berlin’s oldest perserved church building, this museum traces over 800 years of church, architectural, and city history.
- The Museum Ephraim-Palais – a striking Baroque palace that hosts special exhibitions on Berlin’s cultural and everyday history.
- The Museum Knoblauchhaus – experience middle-class life in the Biedermeier period inside one of Berlin’s best-preserved 18th-century townhouses.
- BERLIN GLOBAL at the Humboldt Forum – an interactive exhibition exploring Berlin’s connections with the wider world – past, present, and future.

Types of membership – fee per calendar year:
- Individual membership: £90 (reduced rate 45 euros)
- Plus 1 membership: 135 euros (admission with one additional person)
- Supporting membership Plus 3: 300 euros (admission with up to three additional persons and invitations to openings and special exhibitions)
- Supporting membership Plus 4: 500 euros (access with up to four additional persons and invitations to openings and special exhibitions, as well as one additional invitation per year from the artistic director)
