Playing, relaxing, spending time with others – it’s not just enjoyable, it’s a right that belongs to every child.
On Children’s Rights Day at BERLIN GLOBAL, the spotlight is on the right to play and leisure. Children and families are warmly invited to explore the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in a fun, creative and engaging way.
What do children’s rights mean in everyday life?
Do all children around the world have the same rights?
And what can we do to make sure these rights are upheld everywhere?
Programme
In the WELTSTUDIO and Lounge
Play Zone
Throughout the WELTSTUDIO and Lounge, you can try out board games and movement games, design your own toys and play together. For our youngest guests, there is a cosy crawling and play corner, as well as a baby changing area.
Button Workshop
Create your own buttons with powerful messages about children’s rights – to wear, take home or give away.
Children’s Voices: Your Message Matters (11:00–14:00)
Is there something you’d like to say to other children or adults? In our media studios, you can record your thoughts. The recordings will be featured in a short audio piece.
Learn About Children’s Rights with UNICEF
What exactly is in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child? And what does it mean for your everyday life? Come and talk to UNICEF – and bring your questions.
Reading Lounge (13:00, 14:00 & 15:00)
Enjoy captivating stories in our cosy reading lounge with Drag Story Hour. Let yourself be inspired.
In the BERLIN GLOBAL Exhibition
Family Tours at 12:00 & 15:30
Meeting point: at the large loom in the WELTSTUDIO
Together with a guide, we’ll explore the exhibition about Berlin and the world. We’ll dance under the disco ball, discover how Berlin smells, spin the wheel of history and reflect: What would we stand up for?
For children, families and friends. Free entry with exhibition ticket. No registration required.
The programme is part of “Family Matters”.
“Family Matters” is a collaborative project involving all cultural institutions active at the Humboldt Forum. Participants include the Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss, the Ethnological Museum and Museum of Asian Art (Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz / Staatliche Museen zu Berlin), the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin, and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Special exhibitions and thematic islands within the permanent displays explore various forms of family life in depth. Events hosted by the participating museums accompany the project.
