A new forum for Berlin and the world
Located on the first floor of the Humboldt Forum in the reconstructed Berlin Palace, the BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition offers a unique interactive experience exploring Berlin’s relationships with the rest of the world.
In the Humboldt Forum, the city of Berlin itself serves as the link between the dialogue forums on the lower floors of the Berlin Palace and the global cultural assets located on the upper floors. Far from simply portraying the city as a preordained success story, the exhibition presents it in all of its complexity, contrast and contradiction: simultaneously a cosmopolitan metropolis and a province, a green oasis and an industrial hub, a belated capital and a cultural centre. Faced with the challenges of the past and present, Berlin has often chosen to carve out its own path.
A place for interactionWhile its focus is on the 19th and 20th centuries, BERLIN GLOBAL was also designed to be socially relevant to contemporary audiences. Inclusive, accessible, and clearly structured, the exhibition was made to be looked at, touched, and listened to. The exhibition invites participation and offers space for presentation and dialogue. Like the Humboldt Forum, the Berlin exhibition is intended to be a place of encounter, discovery, reflection, and communication, which places great emphasis on communication with and among visitors.
