In My View: Henri | BERLIN GLOBAL
Henri Vogel is a transgender religious and cultural scholar and activist who lives with his husband and cat in Berlin. In this video, Henri presents an extraordinary object in the “Free Space” room.
Entitled “Meeting in a coffee cup: Menorah. Crescent. Cross.”, the sculpture was developed by three women from Berlin, Ruthe Zunzth, Dorothea Schulz-Ngnomane and Gül Karaduman-Cerkez, as an alternative to the cross on the dome of the Humboldt Forum, and forged by Ahmad Yasin. Henri wonders who has a place in three major religions – Christianity, Judaism and Islam – and who doesn’t. Henri also contributed to the topic of Gender in the “Free Space” room of the BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition. You can find out more about his life and work on his Instagram page.
