Berlin stories

Revolution

1848, 1918, 1989: Berlin played a central role in the great German revolutions, which in turn were closely linked to European and global freedom movements. The BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition focuses on revolutionary events that are closely linked to the city of Berlin.

The door of the techno-club “Tresor”

Between the rooms “Free Space” and “Boundaries” at BERLIN GLOBAL stands a very special door: the steel door of the legendary club “Tresor” at Leipziger Straße 126a. In the series “Favourite Object” we present it.

The horse’s head on the Quadriga

This horse’s head is all that remains of the original Quadriga, the sculpture that sits atop the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. But why did sculptor Johann Gottfried Schadow (1764-1850) design the Quadriga in the first place? And what role did Napoleon play in it?
