International Women⁺’s Day with Flamingo e.V. at BERLIN GLOBAL
Medicinal herbs know no borders and grow in collective strength. Their roots have the power to break through walls and overcome boundaries. They carry resistance, knowledge and stories within them.
We believe that medicinal plants are an essential part of any healthcare system. And the knowledge of how to use them can empower people, create connections and open new pathways. Their effects can foster self-determination and build bridges between cultures, generations and different realities of life.
In this workshop, Zeren Oruc and Lea Nassim Tajbakhsh from Flamingo e.V. share their knowledge of healing plants – from the “Hevrîn Xelef” garden in Berlin-Neukölln to the mountains of Kurdistan, from Iran to Afghanistan.
We will smell, mix and compose our own tea blends, inspired by recipes that bring courage, vitality and a sense of connection.
The herbal mixtures created together will be shared in solidarity with “Hekayat” – the open herbal pharmacy run by the association.
A workshop for people of all ages who want to experience medicinal plants with all their senses, share knowledge and put solidarity into practice.
Please note
The first workshop at 14:30 will be held in German, and the second workshop at 15:30 will be held in English.
A workshop offered as part of the Open Space “Dara Tûyê – درخت توت – The Mulberry Tree“.
In summer 2015, we founded our non-profit association to work in a more organised and effective way. Since then, we have carried out many successful projects in Berlin to support and work with refugee women⁺.
Since autumn 2019, our focus has been on our herbal garden project “Hevrîn Xelef” in Neukölln. It is a partner project with the women⁺’s village Jinwar in northern Syria (Rojava). There, we initiated the project “Sîfa Jin”, which aims to establish a health centre for refugee women and children.
Since the end of 2021, we have dedicated our full attention to this heartfelt project. Currently, we work entirely voluntarily on our projects without any funding.
