In workshops and studios, rehearsal and event spaces as well as open presentation areas, Berliners, people from diverse groups, associations, the neighbourhood, art, science or administration will negotiate and shape topics and questions of Berlin’s city (society) in the future.

There will be space here to think big and enter into long-term co-production.
The listed building has been standing empty for more than 20 years. Soon it will be filled with new life.

Built in 1908 for the Berliner Kriegerheim GmbH, the Marinehaus served as a clubhouse for members of the Imperial Navy until 1918. Its name dates back to this time. From the 1920s until shortly after German reunification in 1990, it was used as an administrative building.

Background

The client is Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM). The remodelling is based on a design by the architectural firm Adept from Copenhagen (Denmark). The overall project “Kreativquartier am Köllnischen Park” comprises the redesign, refurbishment and modernisation of the Märkisches Museum as well as the upgrading of the Marinehaus and is part of the future strategy of the Stadtmuseum Berlin.
