When it opened in 1908, the Märkisches Museum in Köllnischer Park was the first building in the world to be conceived specifically as a city museum. The museum is now set to undergo extensive renovation work.

Exhibitions

Since autumn 2016, the Märkisches Museum has been undergoing a makeover for the 21st century. The renovated museum will feature expanded space for special exhibitions and presentations as well as a completely revised permanent exhibition on Berlin’s history.
